Lempeng and Waffles

I love lempeng (Malay translation for pancake) and waffles but I got the most likings on waffles 'cos of its unique pattern. Pancake dont come in other shapes don't they ;)

To make waffles, you need to have the waffle iron. I kind of like the traditional round iron (as seen at A&W) to the current one that I'm using. One that I bought from Cosway (thru' redeemed coupons ... hehehehe) comes with interchangeable and removable plates for 3 functions:waffle, grill n sandwich. The cleaning is easy as the plates are non-stick. Walla....here's the product ...

The waffle iron is of rectangular plate but I still hv my eye on round waffle as it make neat shaped waffle. Despite the appearance, this waffle taste yummy ... 'cos ida make it ... hahahahaha....it didnt give an even darker color and I guess the heat is not evenly distributed from the 2 rods of heating element beneath the plates. Whatever the cosmetic appearance, this waffle still taste yummy .....'cos ida made it ;)

My children have their own ideas adding toppings to the waffles. I would just prefer having honey to fill up the "well" while the children have wild ideas on the toppings: chocolate peanut butter, milo (malaysia brand for chocolate drink powder) with honey. To a waffle savvy, if you topped the waffles, you are missing the flavor of the waffles itself as some recipes will produce flavor filled waffles that will taste good alone.
